Subtooting my own thread: I have strong angry opinions on the Free Guy film.

I loved it. I loved it in no small part due to all the smart references to other "universes", films, songs, games, and so on. They're all outright delicious!

And then it dawned on me that it's a Disney "property". And that most if not all the references were related to other Disney "properties".

Any indie movie making such clear and direct references to Disney stuff would get sued to oblivion.

I fucking hate that.

@rysiek Honestly, it's on the Law Makers for allowing Lobbying, whilst I hate it- Disney is simply playing the End-Game Capitalist Cards which is entirely on Governments and they're copyright laws.

@robeagleR no, Disney does not get to play the "we're only stuck in this system <shrug>" card.

Their money and their lobbying outright created this system. They are the biggest benefactor of this system currently. They are responsible, and should be held responsible.

If you leave your front door unlocked and I waltz in and steal something from your house, I am still the thief.

Disney waltzed in through lobbying and money-in-politics loopholes, sure. But they remain responsible for doing so.

@rysiek I never said they shouldn't be held responsible, however they are not the Governing bodies which enabled them. What I Am saying is that there would be no issues with Lobbying if Governments did not accept it/Outlawed it- People in power should do better private businesses will and always shall be greedy entities that will swipe every penny at every opportunity because that IS the system we live in.
