What is the closest Android launcher to the Pixel launcher experience, but with a search bar that I can change to DuckDuckGo? That’s literally the ONLY thing I want to change about the default launcher, and afaik it’s impossible (European regulation be damned).

I am explicitly NOT interested in manually recreating the experience with a much more complicated launcher like Nova or Action Launcher.

@cassidy I use Lawnchair on my pixel. It has the feature to change search provider

@arshubham @cassidy Lawnchair is the way.

I've tried a bunch, but Lawnchair is the closest to the Pixel launcher that lets you select a custom search, has the correct behavior for app completion that opens the app (instead of doing a Google Search for no good reason), and lets you remove or move the "at a glance" widget (if you want).

It's open source, but they don't release nearly enough. The latest version is 12.1.0 Alpha 4, from about a year ago. But it works well.

@cassidy I'm usually able to create something very similar with minimal effort with Nova Launcher...
@cassidy
NeoLauncher is what I am currently using that can do that
@cassidy Neo Launcher is the way to go imo
@cassidy Curious to understand the connection here - how is the EU regulation relevant in this context?

@nsmlzl according to some friends, even though they’re in the EU, this apparently doesn’t apply to Pixel phones.

If it _did_ exist, it would probably be possible to enable it on a non-EU Pixel. I could be wrong though.

Android Choice Screen

Following the European Commission’s July 2018 Android decision, Google is implementing a choice screen for general search providers on all Android phones and tablets shipped into the European Economic Area (EEA) where the Google Search app is pre-installed.

@cassidy Nova Launcher should foot the bill.
@cassidy I have been using OpenLauncher and that's pretty nice.
@cassidy
Niagra Launcher was my favorite and still is. I have a pixel phone and use it. You can assign custom swipe actions on the home screen to launch your favorites etc...
