Battle of the bachelor’s handbags: Six supermarket roast chickens put to the taste test

Coles, Woolworths or Costco: which cooked chook rules the roost?

SMH Good Food
Roast chooks are so expensive these days. I swear just a few years ago they were much cheaper. Except the Costco one they are all $12-$13.50! I’m not going all the way to Costco for a chicken in a bag, though. I guess they lost their loss leader status.

Local charcoal chook might cost twice as much, but maybe twice as big. And you can get chips with chicken salt there. Paid $10.50 for a 1/4 + chips today.

KFC probably about sparrow size, and makes you feel queasy after. With soggy chips. And will cost you at least twice as much.

Roast chook even at $15 will get you a couple of meals.

Though that makes me wonder…pumped full of something?

You can achieve the same at home if you inject the marinade which is what I expect they do
