@ubbut they are indeed great. The ones I have are Zebra 110XiIIIPlus. As long as you use them as intended, namely sending them ZPL2 strings and don’t try to print using regular print drivers they are also fast. Thermal transfer allows for a very larger variety of materials. I wanted the serial stickers to be heat and chemical resistent. The printers are not cheap but materials are comparable price wise with direct thermal labels. And much cheaper than P-Touch materials.

@crazor I chose White Polyester Circuit Board Labels. They are high temperature rated up to 150C (302F). You can't put them in the reflow oven but they should survive any soldering you might do on the board. I am also using polymer ink ribbon with them, which makes the print more stable.
