BYOBattleship@ZachWeinersmith Reminds me of a scenario I dreamt up awhile back: say that aliens ask/offer to make a perfect copy of you, which they'll take with them to live in their utopia. You yourself continue your regular life on Earth. Do you take the offer?

In the worst case, it's just the same as it would have been, and in the best you get to live in an alien utopia.
The only possible downside is to get frustrated and envious of your copy, but I guess that can be controlled, or you can at least fool yourself into convincing it was all a dream.

🌚JR🌝I always imagine transporting as like in the movie The Prestige. The transporter is actually a replicator for people, and the old body has to be killed so the new body can take its place.
