Finally got some time to do a little thread on some of my main characters and the universe they inhabit!
The reason why I named the account Star Garden is because that is the fictional place they all reside in! A small cityscape with just enough space for some animals and their dreams ❤️
And possibly darker or spookier shenanigans in the future...
Star Garden came to me from several inspirations both in the furry fandom and out of it, and it's meant to be a small city district that contains the characters I have, and the businesses/jobs they run. It's by no means an original idea, but more of a stage to set everyone up in!

1/? Next up, we have Lumi the Catterpillar! This cutie is (deceptively) a gloworm feline hybrid, made possible by a few little magical accidents by the town's resident shapeshifter and potion maker, Reo.
Lumi is the newest neighbor on the Star Garden city block, and they use they/he. Lumi is a kind person, if a bit excitable, being in their early 20s and ecstatic to start their new stationary and craft shop. If you need a custom card, wrapping paper, or balloons, Lumi has you covered!
Lumi tends to be a bit of a klutz, lugging about both a MASSIVE tail and a habit of forgetting exactly where they set things. They do their best to keep it out of the way, though! They've adjusted well to it, even after Reo offered to fix it.
Lumi's mental state is hard to hypnotize if they're focused on something that fascinates them, but flashing, glowing or sparkling hypnotic items really catch their eye. This includes their own stripey tail markings and antennae. They glow when happy, and this is rather muted during the day or when they're trying to help someone calm down. But if his own tail catches him unawares, you'll see them snoozing in four seconds flat. Their hypnosis tends to be gentle and sleep-inducing, rather than seductive... most of the time~

Then we have the mischevious mister who CAUSED Lumi's little transformative accident, Reo!
Reo is a shapeshifter, and no one actually... REMEMBERS when he moved in. But no one is complaining when his services as resident potion and magical concoction seller serve everyone so well. There's no knowing how the shapeshifter ACTUALLY shifts, though there are rumors he's just a wolf who got ahold of some kind of magic tome. Reo's forms are almost always mammals, and he can change his features at will, including giving himself a prehensile tail or making himself larger.
Reo is a very flirtatious, confident, dominant man, and does not shy away from his love of cute things - accessories, colors, OR people. He decorates his potion shop with lots of bright and inviting colors, and he loves chatting up customers. He usually respects boundaries, but with friends he knows can take the teasing, he becomes the most flirty bastard in all of Star Garden. He is roommates with Juju the fruit bat, who endures the MOST teasing. There's rumors around town that they're dating, but neither party has confirmed the gossip.
Reo is most definitely a persuasive personality. His abilities and magic seem to extend to hypnotic properties, like a coiling tail and flashing blue and pink eyes. His cotton candy colored eyes are said to put the victim in a blissful trance where all senses are heightened. He's not at all shy about his abilities, and will even demonstrate them if asked... for therapeutic reasons, or pleasure~
There's whisperings that Reo isn't all he seems to be, but he'd laugh off every single accusation... and perhaps 'persuade' the rumoring party to forget all about the silly gossip surrounding his origins with a little talk. After all, why look too deep into his past when they could be looking elsewhere...?

4/? Next is Reo's roommate, Juju! Juju is as close to a self insert as I'm gonna get, though they need to be redesigned to be a bit more colorful! This design is not permanent!
Juju is a fruit bat (despite the fact that his reference says vampire bat, ignore that) who works in a coffee shop with a few other neighbors on the block. They're a shy, nervous bat who tends to drop things or be a bit clumsy due to shaky hands. They want to be more outgoing and confident, and they are working on their anxiety by serving coffee to customers at the Acorn Espresso Bar.
Juju needed a roommate, and upon moving into the city, somehow managed to run into the city's most well known resident, Reo. Reo took a shine to him, and thought they should have a nice place to stay. They ended up rooming with him, and the two get along rather swimmingly. There are nights that Juju can't quite remember, but their arrangement with Reo is their business, no one else's. There are rumors that the two are lovers, but neither party has confirmed this gossip.

5/? And now, a little lightning round of characters that don't have enough lore yet to explain thoroughly!
We've got:
- Bruno the Bearigator(he/they), a local nerd and video game store owner who looks like he could bite your head off- but is actually a total softie
- Dante the Husky(he/him), a starry eyed writer trying (and failing) to write a romance novel because he doesn't realize he's gay as the day is long and keeps trying to write straight romances
- Benni the rabbit(any pronouns), an adult entertainer in a local late night gay club and cam bunny who's incredibly zen and blunt, and Dante's roommate
- Weyr(he/him), a grumpy Ratufa indica squirrel who runs the coffee shop Juju works in (don't be fooled by his cute looks, this squirrel runs on 15 cups of hazelnut coffee and sheer rage against shitty customers and bad business policies)
- Stitches(it/its), a living plushie who runs a toy shop and often changes its parts to match its species mood that day
- Sage (She/xe), a border collie who runs a photography studio and has a tail that grows just a little longer each and every day (it's fine, she's taking care of it, it's FINE-)
- and an unpictured banana boa character, Vincent, who runs a massage parlor with some less than innocent intentions~ I will be drawing him soon!
And that's all for now! I plan to try and doodle as much as I can with all the characters I have and try to flesh out little stories about them. I may even get an A03 account just for that!
