not to sound like a huge communist but I don’t think millions of us should have to die hungry and in debt so a couple dudes with really really really big boats can have really really really really big boats
@VeryBadLlama I agree that the wanton display of wealth is highly disagreeable, but we made the mega-millionaires so rich by buying their stuff, not at gunpoint. I have no relationship with Musk AFAIK but yes, I use Amazon & helped pay for Bezos's flotilla of yachts - regretfully on both counts.

@greeneralia @VeryBadLlama no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Amazon is amazing for disabled folks getting things. But also so many swears.

@ketmorco @VeryBadLlama
We are all 'under capitalism' so does that mean that, say, a group of schoolchildren banding together to grow a small garden at school are not acting ethically when they buy the necessary tools?
In other words, I think it is unhelpful to make such sweeping statements as they make no room for calibration.
@greeneralia @ketmorco @VeryBadLlama Unfortunately there actually is no ethical consumption under capitalism. No matter what you purchase, someone was exploited somewhere in the supply chain. 😟

@krans @ketmorco @VeryBadLlama

It's not just capitalism - I suggest every political system ever invented had 'someone exploited somewhere in the supply chain'.
