Florida’s Black history standards are even worse than reported

OPINION: While critics have singled out the part of Florida’s Black History standards referencing the “benefits of slavery," theGrio found numerous examples of Caucasian Race Theory embedded throughout the curriculum.

@drhettie

not liking at all, but liking that the story is getting out....

@drhettie
I knew back in 1953 that the Civil War was over slavery.
@Reymohamme5 @drhettie I know, right? I was born under Jim Crow, but the stuff I learned in school was better than this.
@drhettie
Russian serfdom was as vicious. It happened that Turgenev wrote "A Hunter's Notes", describing the miserable oppression of serfs he encountered, and embarrassed Alexander II into freeing them. When Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, French and British blockade runners, who had previously run slave cotton with impunity, found themselves running smack into the Russian navy.
@Reymohamme5 @drhettie The workers of the cotton mills in Lancashire refused to do work with US cotton during the civil war which was when they realised it used slave labour. They lost their jobs but stuck by their boycott
@drhettie if we read nothing else. This is a must read.
@drhettie Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Damn, that’s horrifying.
@drhettie Fact checking: False. This is an attempt at classic liberal distortion.
