I simply do not understand this bizarre impulse by grown (almost always Republican) men to translate “we don’t know and need some time to get to the bottom of it before we cause a total panic over 10% of the story” into “total lack of transparency by the government.” My most generous interpretation is it’s a distraction from their unpopular domestic policies they’re implementing at the state level and via SCOTUS.
