I think cuffing and taking an 11-year-old to juvie for being an idiot is completely unnecessary.
I also don’t see anything in the article about investigating whoever it was that was encouraging the prank.
I see some value in it. Don't keep her overnight or cause permanent damage to her life, but these kids are for sure a little out of control and unparented.
mrbubblesortEh, I doubt it's because she's "out of control and unparented". According to the article she was at home with her parents when she decided to copy a prank she saw in a youtube video. The whole incident played out in under 90 minutes, even the best parent can't (and shouldn't) watch their kid 100% of the time. Kids have poor impulse control and do dumb shit. Give her a stern talking to and a slap on the wrist, and call it a day.
