Didn’t the dude who runs palemoon get real mad about some business donating money to black causes or something? Not a great look.
fuck, knock that one down a rank too
Not agreeing 100% with everyone goes a long way. The world can be a better place as long as we support each other in generally the right direction together
dude’s a dickhead but that says nothing about his browser
What do you have against Safari? It’s the largest non Chromium/Blink browser and doesn’t track its users.
I didn’t make the meme, but closed-source browsers should all be a no-go. Plus, OS exclusivity is never great.
WebKit is open source though.
WebKit being open source is great, but that doesn’t guarantee anything built on top of it (Safari) private or secure
That’s a fair point. My point is just that Safari is better than Chrome
A potato is better than chrome.
True, but at least its engine, WebKit, is open source and a few other open-source browsers are based on it, and it works and Linux
WebKit

Open Source Web Browser Engine

WebKit

I know it used to be cross-platform, but at this point its clearly proprietary and is only available on macOS and iOS.

Apple uses their walled garden approach to limit a lot of things, including forcing all browsers on iOS to use WebKit to render. So it really limits other browsers ability to compete with Safari because they can’t as easily add new features (including better access to ad-blocking). That’s finally going to be changing, but mostly because of being forced to do so by the European Union. Apple is just fairly anti-competitive in certain ways is all, and certainly has been with their browser for a long time.

Find that hard to believe

doesn’t track it’s users

Don’t forget Waterfox, privacy centric version of Firefox.

Fuck google and all that, but also fuck using "mental illness" as a derogatory term.
Yea! I prefer collecting my mental illnesses like Pokemon to detract from people who actually have them!
My bad, I reposted this because of the recent Google stuff without considering that issue. I’ll remove it if anyone asks.
Just something to keep in mind for the future.
Of course! Thanks for the heads up.
Can someone inform me what's wrong with the brave browser?
It’s chromium and the company sells telemetry data to advertisers. It’s quite literally doing the thing it draws users in with.
Is Firefox not also using chromium?
No, Firefox is entirely distinct from chromium.
I did not know this, thank you.
Firefox does not use Chromium. However, people get confused because when you mod FF you change the userChrome file with CSS.
FF has had that file name even before Google had a browser.
Firefox uses their own engine, Gecko
What? I agree with a lot of the Brave criticism and don’t think they’re perfect by any means, but saying they “sell telemetry data to advertisers” is just false and a completely baseless claim.
  • Chromium based (which may be a pro or con depending on who you ask).
  • Their CEO has made homophobic political donations and resigned from Mozilla due to backlash for it.
  • They have been caught doing shady things like inserting affiliate links into the address bar suggestions.
  • They use their browser to push their crypto currency, news and other garbage.
  • I was ok with 1 and opted out of 3 and 4 but had no idea about 2
Hahaha I use their crypto to buy crypto I want so that's the reason I asked in the first place. But I guess I'll go back to Firefox, which is the browser I prefer anyways.
There’s a distinct lack of Librewolf in this image
Shit I just switched to Opera. Now I gotta switch again.
Whats the blue looking firefox icon in the top row?
Pale Moon. Its a fork from Firefox three if I recall correctly. I’m not sure if its still maintained

Is Pale Moon even considered secure anymore?

I doubt they’re able to keep up these days honestly…
