@AliceMarshall While it's important to hold our leaders accountable for their indifference, it's also important to remember that Republicans have made climate change denial their official position.

So, voting for Democrats remains the only chance we have to address climate change.

@cowvin our only chance to halt #GlobalWarming is massive direct action. Protests, boycotts, strikes, whatever it takes.
@AliceMarshall Agreed, but that doesn't mean we can allow the government to be run by climate change deniers either. Do you think they will be receptive to protests, boycotts, strikes, etc?

@cowvin there is a coercive power to withdrawing cooperation. when we withdraw out cooperation we force the power structure to change. that is the basis for all non-cooperation.

@AliceMarshall Yeah, I totally understand the need for protests, strikes, etc. But the difference is that if you allow Republicans to have power, they will deploy the military to kill protestors. In comparison, Democrats will see the protests, strikes, and such and it will help them understand that they can't be apathetic toward climate change.

@cowvin Obviously Democrats are better, but Obama spent his last Thanksgiving at the White House watching security goons attack water protectors at Standing Rock. The Atlanta City Council who is funding Cop City is almost entirely Democratic. Obama dismantled Dean's 50 state organizing project and destroyed the Democratic party.

@AliceMarshall Yeah, the Democratic party is not great, but they are at least workable compared to Republicans.

Only a small faction of the Democratic party is actually in favor of environmental causes, but that means they are light years better than the alternative.

@AliceMarshall We know that Obama wasn’t perfect. He had his strong agenda items. Other areas didn’t get the attention needed. No President treated all problems equally. Whatever Obama would have accomplished on climate would have been undone by Trump anyway, as we see he attempted to obliterate both the EPA and the State Department, just as Reagan destroyed much of any earlier climate awareness as a puppet for Big Oil.
@AliceMarshall why push an article that singles out Obama? Every politician is culpable and this just spreads the misinformation that the current disaster state could somehow have been avoided. Why no blame for Bush? Or 45?
@Flowermob the people who voted for Obama thought that he would act on climate change.
