If this was in the UK, there’d be a fear among certain groups that the “native” population was going to be replaced by immigrants. I wonder if there’s anything similar in Japan?
I mean, that’s literally what’s happening? I’m not sure what you mean there.
Well, yeah I guess it is in a way. But more like framing it as a negative thing, a fear of the loss of Japanese values and culture as the foreigners bring in their own.
But if you like Japan as it is, that’s a valid concern. It’s not immigrants magically forget where they come from.
I’m not sure how 2% of the population being immigrants is replacing the native population.

That’s a problem that came be fixed. But to those who like Japan and Japanese culture, immigration is not something that can be undone.
