As Biden dedicates a monument to Emmett Till, remember that his horrific 1955 lynching isn't ancient history.

Today 18 members of Congress are older than him & the white woman Carolyn Bryant who got him lynched just died this April—all without ever facing a lick of accountability.

Till's story is not ancient history—it's contemporary reality.

@QasimRashid My mother was pregnant with me the summer Till was murdered. Her parents hailed from Duck Hill, MS, which lies east of Money, MS (where Till was staying) and roughly a 45-minute drive.

If she ever entertained the thought of having her kids visit relatives there as so many African American parents did as they sent their kids South when school let out for the summer, Till's death put an end to that.
