So Threads added a chronological feed this week, but:

- it’s off by default and kinda fiddly to find the first time
- it only shows the last hour or so of posts
- it doesn’t save your position, so whenever the app is booted from memory, it resets to the top of your feed
- needless to say, cross-device position sync isn’t a thing either

Basically, if you like the Ivory style social media exp, you should still be holding out for federation to turn on, not for Meta to deliver the UI you want.

@matt my feed only showed the last hour of posts originally but when I refreshed it showed me a lot of older stuff out of order. It was still only people I’m following but it wasn’t chronological. I just opened it up for the first time in an hour or so and it at least held my position, but it probably wasn’t long enough to reset.

All that to say you’re right, I’m still hoping for federation, but it seems like they’re still working out some kinks maybe too 🤞

@jddavis Yup, some of this could be cleaned up. I just hope people aren’t getting their hope up that the “following” page is going to replicate what they like about our nerdy apps because I don’t think they’ll ever get there 😬
