When those of us who work on CO₂ removal (CDR) meet, it’s apparent that no one wants to do this and no one thinks it’s easy.

It’s far easier and cheaper to stop emitting CO₂.

The fact that some of the smartest people I know decide to work on CDR signals our desperation.

A very important message!

There needs to be an addition:
- CDR can never compensate for another 20 yrs of ongoing ~37 Bio tons CO2. Never.
- There is no choice: Emissions have to be reduced significantly, and that has to start NOW. That’s not just a question of costs.
- Well, it looks like we'll need CDR later on to compensate for say the last 2 to 5% remaining emissions, which are most difficult to further reduce. That might be possible - and still expensive, but probably necessary
