"Elon Musk has been plotting the Twitter rebrand for 9+ months"

"Elon Musk's vision for X is 25 years in the making"

you can say that but we also all saw the guy ask his followers for a free logo for X just hours before this all went live and half the site still says Twitter

@MattBinder he thought about it for 25 years _and still couldn't come up with a better name_.
And to top it off, he didn't even try to trademark the stupid name he came up with.

Genius, indeed.

@pgcd @MattBinder

I'm surprised he didn't trademark it back when he first tried to force it on people

@MattBinder Plotting ≠ planning. Vision ≠ competence.

@MattBinder it's just just an Unicode Character

It's all lazy AF. Dude thinks he's a genius and he gets thrills doing things last minute.

@MattBinder He tried to rename Paypal to X in the 90s before they fired him and put Peter Thiel in charge. IIRC he’s also owned X.com for decades.

He doesn’t know to execute his vision but he’s wanted X to be a social network bank for his entire adult life. He just personally sucks at everything you have to be good at to do this successfully.

@MattBinder 25 years, one ugly, quickly slapped together logo and one of the more sloppy website transitions I've seen. Impressive... I guess. Overstock buying the Bed Bath & Beyond name was much better thought out.
@MattBinder
Elon Musk’s new ‘X’ rebrand looks like a ripoff from iconic 1984 X Windows logo

@MattBinder
25 years is a bit of a lie but 9 months sounds about right

Why Facebook is meta and why Twitter is X

Making sense of coporate koolaid at these 2 titans of the attention economy.

Plasma Trap~
@MattBinder this is similar to saying that Elon Musk’s 69 jokes have been 42.0 years in the making.
@MattBinder Didn't he try to change PayPal into "X.com" and then got kicked out of PayPal because of that?

@MattBinder

He’s still mad about PayPal.

@MattBinder
Musk puts as much thought into business decisions as I put into breakfast.
@MattBinder the logo is just an emoji symbol. no effort.
@MattBinder There has to be a difference between wanting to do something for over 9 months, and actually doing literally any work to get there. I guess I've been "plotting" to finish painting my house for the entire year by this standard.
@MattBinder more like "he couldn't let go of his idea for more than 25 years and he was still obsessed with it 9 months ago".
@MattBinder I think he is just showing how he has total disregard for the people who actually use his products. And, signalling that the US tax code is entirely screwed up. All this "extra money" to piss away should be sitting in the Treasury.

@MattBinder This is the difference between dreamers and doers. Musk is a dreamer who talks about doing things in a vague way but doesn’t really plan anything. Had he been planning his Everything App all along he’d never have fired Twitter employees since he’d know he would need them. Instead, he treated Twitter like it was complete.

Talking about doing something is a substitute for doing things for many people because it feels like activity but it’s not.
