Yeah, its because theyre often very small teams, and dont have a budget for a UI guy or artists, and not everyone is used to doing a bit of everything.

Small team doesn't automatically mean you can't build good and beautiful things. Look at @dansup and @pixelfed for example. Or myself and #MastodonBirdUI. There are many examples like that in the open source world. But naturally, like discussed, it needs the right persons. If there is no UI people in the team, it is what it is. The team needs the UI person.

When I said small team, I was thinking "1-2 guys, and neither of them has any art/UI skills. haha"
