This is probably the wrong place to ask this (given the particular subset of Mastodon users who will see it), but does anybody know what (if anything) happens if the GOP nominates Trump and then he actually gets prison time? Is there a mechanism for removing him from the ballot and replacing him, or does the GOP have to just roll with having a convicted felon staring down a jail sentence on the ballot?
@johnobriant Considering it would be down to state law if a convicted felon can be on the ballot in the first place, I’m not sure even that would stop him. Then we’d be able to test (not that I want to) whether a POTUS can pardon themselves.
