this is in the city. I need to do this again. technically city parks close at 11 pm… #photography
@senanthic where was this and at what time? Just curious how you got such a great view!
@senanthic I wish I was able to stay up later, and moreso, to go somewhere at late hours where I could get such a view. I recall seeing things like this when I was a kid and teenager, as we had a cabin we spent the summer at, and I sometimes went camping etc. It's been a long time since I've been up late enough to catch this kind of view, far enough away from lights.
@ECityMom Whitemud Nature Reserve, September, at around 9:30 pm.
@senanthic I think that's just so they can kick out people trying to sleep in them. (And maybe a noise ordinance.)
@senanthic
Haha, this one image sent me down a rabbit hole of setting up a camping event for the #Perseids weekend, in combination with the #SamsonCreeNation pow wow. I think I've already done that 4 times now. Such a great combo!
@EllenInEdmonton that sounds like an amazing trip for that weekend! I've photographed the Perseids a couple of times, but there's always so many people and some of them are not very courteous to the environment. I watched someone throw a cigarette into long grass and couldn't believe my eyes.
@senanthic
I really like this simple, municipal campground for #Perseids viewing because there are great sky views and very few people in the area. Also, close to home, in case things go sideways.
@EllenInEdmonton where is it?
@senanthic
Coal Lake South Campground. There's excellent lake access nearby for folks who want to paddle and the Chickadee Trail, across the highway is filled with feeders and an awesome place to handfeed chickadees. The pow wow being the same weekend as the Perseids is the icing on the cake, for me!
