Seeing so many people jump to Bluesky is kind of sad. It's literally Twitter 2.0 with all of the same issues and challenges.

This could have been a chance for people to make the internet a better place with Fedi but instead they went for the Fast Food social media they had before, just with a different sauce.

@egeexyz I feel like people think that if they go to a company owned social media it's going to be more "stable" and have more people
@egeexyz I am a bit puzzled by it. Artists with large followings are moving there but... Their followers can't follow so I don't understand what the immediate goal is? Maybe just stake a claim to their name while they can and wait it out or something?

@Muzukun I thought of that too. Big artists will give codes to other artists.. Which is cool but what's the point of marketing if your audience can't see you?

Obviously it won't be that way forever but it seems odd and shortsighted.

@egeexyz
@Muzukun Most of the bigger people follow big people. This is just the bubble those ones have put themselves in and Twitter's algorithm has fooled them into thinking everyone is getting a code to join.

Think like billionaires separating themselves from the rest of us, it's delusion brought on by their environment.

@Neybulot @egeexyz yyyyeah... I can see some appeal of the 'algorithm' since I kind of go nuts following hashtags here trying to find a type of content. Maybe it's still not super popular some ways but... Some are trying to migrate to discord and that's not exactly a legit replacement XD

@egeexyz it is even very feature lacking… no DMs, no gif or video, and no public sharing of posts…

It’s only getting attention because the exclusivity of needing a code to get in

@egeexyz people think Twitter was better before Elon when the people behind bluesky were running Twitter but it wasn't much better. It still had a lot of issues.

It's very sad to see that people are just too lazy to learn how to get started with mastodon
@egeexyz Many popular Twitter accounts exist to boost those users' careers. They have a business reason to move to sites where they think will attract the most followers. They're looking solely for visibility.
@egeexyz I don't think we want all the former twitter users to come here in the first place tbqh
@egeexyz
I kinda hate how they're reinventing the wheel when we already have ActivityPub
