It makes me happy that other researchers are using the small (Black) southern women data set (left, beside Zachary's karate club) in theoretical work. It's not suitable for benchmarking algorithms, but it's a great example for theoretical concepts in affiliation networks, not to mention pleasantly symmetric. Finding it was one of many rewards of reading the anthropological study "Deep South" from which the widely-used (white) southern women data set was taken.
