@bookstodon Have you ever thrown a book away or abandoned it somewhere because you couldn’t stand it one more second? whether it was upsetting or just that annoying?

I once “accidentally” threw a Christopher Pike book out the window of a moving car because it freaked me out so much.

@lunalein I left a generic-fantasy book at a holiday house. From the state of the bookshelf there, several people before me had done similar things.
@irina that’s a classic place to leave/discover trashy books!
@lunalein @bookstodon
I have a new view of books found on the side of the road.

@bookstodon @Scotter i was young, and Whisper of Death was too scary!

i also buried a copy of Carrie at the bottom of my closet because the sight of it was freaking me out.

@lunalein @bookstodon

Is it still in the closet?

This reminds me of a common horror story plot. Like the girl in the well that people feel sorry for her and let her out, not knowing she was was put there for being evil.

@Scotter @bookstodon it eventually left when i moved out of my mom’s house. that room later became my niece’s, though, and she has become a little horror hound…

@lunalein @bookstodon

I threw a Gore Vidal novel from a train once. Some of his work, I liked.

@lunalein @bookstodon someone once left a copy of da Vinci code in our office kitchen; I tried to read a page after taking it but abandoned ship immediately
@Flyspeck @lunalein @bookstodon It could be worse. You could have picked up one of Dan Brown's earlier novels before he stumbled on the Da Vinci Code formula. They're much much worse.
