Chicago (That Toddlin’ Town) 🎶 #SummerRoadTrip
Decided to get a ticket for a special exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago, featuring Van Gogh, Seurat and Signac (a personal favorite!), among others. There are so many paintings in it, which I had never seen or heard of before - if you find yourself in Chicago before Labor Day, check it out! 🖼️
Another favorite: Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks.” I once saw a play based on this painting, which was staged inside an abandoned New Orleans supermarket that had flooded during Hurricane Katrina. Somehow missed this painting the last time I was here - made a beeline for it this time.
Also - shoutout to the Art Institute’s wonderful collection that includes iconic paintings by Georgia O’Keefe, Mary Cassatt, Grant Wood - and Toulouse-Lautrec on a tambourine!
