2023 Hungarian Grand Prix | Race - Lemmy

It’s nearly time for lights out! Will Lewis be able to fend of Max? Can the McLarens move forward? Will the Alfas manage to stay high up the order, and can Danny Ric score points on his return to Formula 1? Find out all this and more, next time on Dragon Ball Z!

Zhou bowling! Strike!
5 seconds for double DNFing Alpine 😂
Hoping to see a clean first lap. Would be great to see Norris get a good start even for a few laps.
Ooh how long has there been a sort by new / chat button?
Max and Lewis take each other out and then McLaren 1-2.
Let’s see if this was worth waking up for…
Max v Lewis still spicy as ever
What an oddly slow start for the front group.
Well guys, Hungary was fun, see you in Spa.
Verstappen wins Spa too. See you in 2026 for the new engines.

Oh wow both Alpines out in the first lap. Yikes.

Zhou into Riccardo and then Riccardo into an Alpine, and then into another Alpine.

Oh my god, Ocon and Gasly that’s terrible
Thats rough going for them
Very big gains and losses on lap 1. Good for Ferrari and McLaren, mixed bag for Merc, Alfa and Alpine the big losers.
Oh how I’ve missed Alonso defending here haha
I missed the first 5 laps, wtf happened?
They swapped straight to the podium positions and started the circular procession.
Zhou got a late start and went bowling instead.
I just watched the clip… Crazy. Alpine has the worst fucking luck this season.
Most significant was Renault-domino (I’m going to ignore the Alpine brand for the rhyme): Zhou bumped into Ricciardo, who bumped into an Alpine, who bumped into an Alpine.

Zhou had the worst start possible, ending 4 promising races. Lewis also got caught out.

What a quick end to a lot of potential fun :(

Ferrari strategists having another brain fart. Car with potentially faster tyres is stuck behind his teammate:
Did HAM get wheelspin? Yesterday they were saying the side Max was on would be dusty and would have relatively worse start.
Piastri is so impressive. One to watch out for. McLaren can let Lando go and still have a top driver now
What happened regarding the first pit stop though? Piastri’s stop was faster than Norris’, but this Norris managed to undercut him. Are they on different strategies?
Undercutting your own teammate is bound to raise questions. Hopefully we get answers after the race.
Also a slow stop for Piastri. He’s being robbed of a podium for a second time.
Afterwards he was pretty off the pace He was consistently slower than Noris. At first I thought he just had slow targets, maybe he had tire management issues, I have no idea.
I’d be starting to think about picking up Piastri over Norris at this point. It’s his rookie year and he’s on a very similar race pace as Norris, maybe not got the ultimate quali pace yet. Norris took over a year to look this close to Sainz, and never consistantly beat him. He’s only going to get better and the McLaren is notoriously unbalanced so he can handle an imperfect car. He’s probably cheaper and not on as long a contract. Norris is still the better of the two at the moment but I wonder if he will be for long.
Lots of early stoppers. Going to be a mix of 2 stoppers and 3 stoppers.
Ferrari’s resident strategist Sainz at it again.
What was Lewis’ radio message? I want to hear that not this anus Horner.
Asking how he is so far back from the McLarens.

SAI getting ahead of LEC in the most Ferrari way possible.

NOR undercutting PIA is going to raise some eyebrows.

Ferrari doing Ferrari things
Wow potential fireworks at McLaren

Woke up late and missed the first few laps. Dammit.

Super sucky for Alpine. Their third double DNF after Australia and Silverstone.

How much damage is RIC carrying? Been at the bottom since the lap 1 incident.
It’s also his first race back in a car that has done poorly all season
TSU looks like he will be best of the rest again today. Most of it was keeping it clean while others stumbled.
If a race ever needed a safety car to spice things up, it’s this one. Where are you Maldonado?
Zhou tried his best.
Ferrari self destructing again?
HAM defending PER might give us a McLaren double podium.
Isn’t PER stop illegal? I thought it had to be a 2 second minimum now.
Is it so? Didn’t knew there was an overall minimum time. Only that some actions can’t happen faster than 0.2 seconds (reaction time)
This is true. The reason why people thought that sub 2s times were impossible was because with the 1.83s pitstop red bull had in interlagos 2019, we were already approaching limits as to how fast tyres could be changed. So adding around 0.2 seconds to that time it seemed sub 2s would no longer be possible. Red bull seemed to have found a way to improve anyway and hence the 1.9
