Amidst our climate crisis, this is the kind of move we need. Small step for Washington, giant leap for nuclear in our grid decarbonization mission.
Yeah, as much as I’d like to avoid nuclear energy, the rate at which climate change is starting to accelerate make that hard to avoid. Nuclear, at this point, is needed as a stepping stone to truly green and renewable energy.
If solar was subsidized like nuclear steam, (and got as much of a pass on co2 from mining), it would still produce less *deadly* waste. I think nuclear is only attractive as a centralized power source, for the privately-owned control of production.
