Dang, haven't seen positivity numbers like that in a while.

#CovidIsNotOver

@mttaggart wait, they still track this? I thought they killed everything tracking wise.
LA County COVID-19 Data - LA County Department of Public Health

@mttaggart @dankolai
Thank you for showing this. The county is close to me, but not where I live.
@mttaggart
And I feel for everyone that works at In and Out. In CA and CO (I think), you can wear a mask still. If you work in the other states, In and Out says you need a doctor's note to wear a mask. Beyond stupid.
@mttaggart Whenever you see stats like this, keep in mind that the numbers are actually higher due to people not testing or taking a home test and not reporting. I don't know what the estimated error is (I guess I could figure it out in the data I have) but just know its way underreported (part of my work is in infectious diseases data for nursing homes across the country and the CDC )

@AlicornSkyler Very important point. I've been going by wastewater data as a more realistic metric, which is also showing an uptick.

@mttaggart Here are the daily positive covid tests from 400ish nursing homes I manage. It's public data found on the NHSN but I trust my facilities more than random ones who don't report as they should. Unfortunately, even the data is not correct as around May of this year facilities are no longer required to test everyone and only test if someone is showing symptoms (and even then some don’t).
