So, I never got into Reddit, but occasionally end up there while looking something up. I hear it's now a cesspool with stuff like this.

How are the fedi-alternatives? Should I try out kbin or lemmy? I heard people don't like the guy who makes lemmy. Is kbin the way to go?

For the people who use either of them, what do you like about them? What's a good instance?

Thanks.

Like choosing a Mastodon instance.....

Choose a Lemmy instance that you agree with their policies/rules etc.

You could even self host your own instance if you so chose to.

There's so many apps and even front ends like Voyager to consume it.

Unlike Reddit being stuck to their single app now.

And on Android side you're not stuck to PlayStore.

Can snag .APKs from GitHub/F-Droid Jeroba and Thunder have bleeding edge releases on GitHub for example.

I never used Digg myself.

But I felt Reddit was like an interactive newspaper meets threaded replies, more lasting than a chat message or a discord message.

But felt more real-time then forums.

I left for Lemmy as soon as the API changes were announced.

Not gonna use their App it's 🗑️.

Got my Data request and deleted my account, 12 years. Never looked back.

Losing control of things in life makes me sad.

So I do what I can to maintain control of it, at least online.
