For some reason, OpenNIC is missing in this comparison:
Looking for an open and democratic alternative DNS root? Concerned about censorship? OpenNIC might be the solution for you!
I wish Mullvad would expand their service to offer something like NextDNS with blocklists. I love DNS expect for the fact that they are based in the US and have the capability of logging.
That said, without the occasional log I would probably never have been able to fix some issues.
Nice.
Personally I use dnscrypt and filter requests myself (with the help of filter lists of course) with postmaster on desktop and rethinkdns on android (using quad9 dnscrypt option, but on pc I hand picked the servers).
Kinda a weird question regarding DoH on android. Is there a way to have DoH bypass certain local domains without implementing it router level.
For example at home devices use a prefix like router.example.com or homeassistant.example.com (on internal lan). Some services on the domain are portforwarded while others are only available via internal net this causes issues when trying to acess internal devices.
On ios (in NextDNS specifically) there is an excluded domains feature which allows this. Unfortunatley android doesn’t seem to have a similar option

Yep. NextDNS if you want something simple and easy with good customisability, piHole if you want and are capable of putting your own together.
Quad9 if you just want something that’s completely free, protects you from malware, and respects your privacy.
