Reddit users figured out that some bot crawlers scrape popular threads and auto-generate AI articles based on user comments, so they decided to create some fake hype to confuse them.

@antimnguyen @didier a few years back people around r/WSB did something comparable with fake stock tickers and it worked as well. Too much algos and bots scraping too much of Reddit and Twitter and taking it at face value with real life implications.
