Also - there do exist other mastodon servers that allow long-form posts. Migration is a bit of a pain, though - in particular your post history does not (currently) get moved.

@georgetakei FYI, there are variants of Mastodon permitting longer-form content, e.g. kbin. Which would then continue to let your followers on a short-message variant follow you and see your content.

A corporate-controlled walled garden ain't it.

To further elaborate with slightly more stress:

"where we can continue to build a community" — fragmenting your community isn't building it.
