You mean that meme where a guy mentioned that his gf joined Threads, and the app suggested his account as the best match for her? Which would have been great, if he'd registered for Threads, but well, he was at the time just an Instagram user.
Considering that it seems to share the user database with Instagram, Threads is more like new functionality for Instagram, even if the marketing dept is selling it differently.
