Anybody remember Usenet?

I haven’t been on Usenet since switching to Comcast for the fastest internet service available in my area. My access to Usenet came from my previous ISPs and Comcast doesn’t do that :/

I was on a lot of the gaming and piracy alts.

Any gaming alt you remember fondly and/or that might still be active?
Sadly, I couldn’t remember anything specific when I made that comment. I could remember the alt.<something>.<specific game> format, but none of the actual servers or anything. I mean, I haven’t been on Usenet since I was 13 or 14, I think?

Ahhh, I think [email protected] is the biggest c/ for usenet. Might be lemmy.world though. And I’m pretty sure I saw one on fmhy or dbzer0 too, just with a different name configuration. But, there’s several decent traffic C/s out there. There’s a couple for signups too.

I don’t personally use usenet because I don’t have a need that’s worth relearning how to do things lol.

It’s largely about file sharing now though
