*head explodes at the magnificence of this piano performance, including forcefully bringing audience clapping on beat, and a 32nd note sequence that's so precise it sounds like a chiptune*

Hiromi Uehara's performance of Canon in D (but increasingly jazzier), as transcribed by George Collier.

canon in D but it keeps getting jazzier

@scanigryph Holy cats! That's amazing. And I remember just enough music notation to be entertained by the sheet music as well ("gradually add more wrong notes (a.k.a. jรคzz)"). That extended bit in the 6-7:30 minute mark makes my hand hurt just thinking about it.

@BeerFox - this is something you would likely appreciate!

@duncandahusky @scanigryph That was *utterly* fantastic! I think I just sat there with my mouth open the entire 32nd-note segment, that degree of control for *that* long

And likewise kept finding myself torn between watching her joyous performance, and peeking down to giggle at the latest notation. 'fat cluster smash!'

@BeerFox @duncandahusky @scanigryph Bit late to the game here, but damn! I gotta say I enjoyed the heck out of this. I can't imagine the amount of practice it takes to make a performance look this casual and fun.

Thanks for sharing.

@scanigryph i love this video, this woman commits PIANO CRIMES, it's so good

at the end she is making that piano SCREAM

@koebi There are no piano crimes, other than neglecting to play one.
@scanigryph oh no this jazz is ABSOLUTELY criminal in all of the best ways, she gets away with that long lick, the metal ruler trick, and that one long pause that's so perfectly done she gets applause for it
@koebi @scanigryph I kinda wish I had seen this without the transcription first. that pause is spoiled slightly by seeing it transcribed, heh.
@scanigryph That there exists someone who can write/arrange it, someone who can perform it, can display the notation for us while it's being performed, and people who can appreciate it... ๐Ÿ˜ญ I loved it!
