When I was young I really loved horror movies. As I got older they tended to appeal less and less to me. With one exception: Sam Raimis “Drag med to hell” (well “Get Out” was really well done too but it’s not really horror in my opinion).

Does anyone have tips on movies that you think are a bit like that? Horror, but not “violence pornography” (like Hostel, Saw, Escape Room and so forth), with a little bit of humour in the mix.

@nolite Cabin in the Woods (2011) has some gore, but is a great horror-comedy. Trick 'r Treat (2007) is an awesome anthology of Halloween-themed horror that has some laughs. And to take two examples from directors you mentioned, Army of Darkness (1992) and Nope (2022) (also not explicitly a horror movie in my opinion) are excellent.

@deeoh @nolite thanks for your suggestions! Will definitely check out “Trick ‘r treat”! Simone else mentioned Cabin so that’s on my list too. AoD is excellent indeed and Nope was good, but not as scary as “Us”.
