CirceI keep seeing fans claim that Stede beat Izzy in the duel. No. Stede won the duel on a technicality because Izzy's sword broke, but he didn't beat Izzy at swordplay. If anyone/anything beat Izzy in the duel, it was the Revenge itself because Izzy's sword jammed in the mast. In fact, I'd argue that Izzy defeated himself because he got so agitated trying to retrieve his sword that he pulled on the sword hilt too hard and broke it himself.
Kelexyn@Circe I feel like the duel was a badly-planned move all the way around; Izzy knew he wasn't going to kill Stede he only wanted him off the boat, and he didn't think about the eccentric nature of the MF'er who BUILT the damn ship in the first place. And I don't think it was a technicality, I think it was Izzy's own honor that made him stop when his sword broke; the duel is over, the sword is inoperable, and Izzy refused to trample his personal code bc he thought Ed would back him. Ed failed him.
