@[email protected] looks like africa loves it; maybe some historical trauma makes people there ignore the truth about #russia being the modern #fascism state, or maybe that's exactly what attracts people in kenya, etc?

idk, just trying to guess, having seen the latest reports.

@tivasyk @[email protected] Nigerian here. And to be honest, we don't give a damn about the #Russia, #Ukraine war. And honestly why should we? A lot of the wars in Africa has always had the hands of the Global north. We have more pressing issues than be bothered about two more developed countries having a go at each other. Our priorities should be about developing our local economies and industries to the point that we aren't depending on the global North

@airsay i don't even have to comment this, apart from unfolding that prudish «we don't give a damn […] and why should we?» into what it really means: «we don't care about #fascism as long as it's on another continent».

i don't know why you should, i'm not here to demand you do. all i know is i'm not in europe, but i do; if it were in #africa i would also care and bring my voice up for victims.

@tivasyk @[email protected] Fair enough. As it stands, there's a war in Sudan. It barely gets any coverage on the global news. Mozambique is also stuck in an unofficial civil war. Same for Cameroon and parts of northern Nigeria. Libya has become a basket case following the "intervention" of NATO. My point is that Africa should not be used as the red herring about narratives that suggest that the possible Russian blockade of Ukrainian exports through the Black sea impacts Africa.
