Wenn man die Emissionen bis 2045 zusammenrechnet, ergibt sich kumuliert selbst im besten Fall eine Summe, die fast ein Drittel (!) über dem deutschen Budget liegt, das sich aus dem Klimaschutzgesetz ergibt. Bis 2050 dann rund 40% drüber.

Nochmal: Wenn wir alles umsetzen, was die Regierung beschlossen hat, und alles funktioniert, sind wir auf dem Weg, unser CO2-Budget bis 2050 um 40 Prozent zu überziehen.

Es muss noch viel, sehr viel passieren, auch wenn es jetzt schwer wird, immer schwerer wahrscheinlich sogar, auch wenn die Hebel, die noch zur Verfügung stehen, immer kleiner werden, die naheliegenden Maßnahmen mehr oder weniger auf den Weg gebracht wurden.

@beimwort ja, insbesondere im Ausland.
Also auch überlegen welche Technologien die helfen gut exportiert werden können und wir man Staaten überzeugen kann zu agieren.
Ja auch bei uns sind noch Anstrengungen nötig.

Aber auch eine Reduktion auf 0 bei uns wird nix helfen wenn wir quasi alle staten außerhalb von Europa nicht überzeugen mit zu ziehen.

Wie kommst du auf die Idee, dass andere Staaten überzeugt werden müssten und nicht mitzögen? Das ist ein Demobilisierungsargument. Dieses Land ist weit davon entfernt an der Spitze der Entwicklung zu stehen.

Europe and the US is the *ONLY* region in the world that reduced their CO2 emmisions.

Emissions from fossil fuels and industry are included, but not land-use change emissions. International aviation and shipping are included as separate entities, as they are not included in any country's emissions.

If you group it by region it becomes clearer. One data set is starting from 1929, the other one 1990, the reference year of the Kyoto Protocol.

Compared to 1990 China exploded from 2.8 bn tons to 11,5. India from 0,5bm to 2.7bn tons. Africa from 0,6 bn to 1,5bn tons.

The US went from 5,1 bn tons via a peak of 6,1 bn tons in 2005 to 5,0 bn tons in 2021. Only a tiny change but it goes at least in the right direction.

The EU went from 3,8bn tons to 2,79bn tons. Europe excluding the EU from 4,2bn tons to 2,5 bn tons.

@nimnul @beimwort As said my argument is not "we need to slow down with reducing CO2." The opposite is true. We need to stop burning Coal for Electricity and Oil for Heating and Transport - now. We need to see how we can decarbonize the steel and concrete production. Likely with Hydrogen. This can't be done by Electricity because fossil fuelsn are not used in those processes as energy source but as chemical reduction agent.

But WE NEED TO GET THE OTHER COUNTRIES ON OUR SIDE.

@nimnul @beimwort I find it always a bit bizarre that germans, especially the lefties where i feel myself political at home think they can save the world.

I live in the Netherlands and outside of the german speaking world this is a "we, the global community must solve the CO2 emmisions".
In germany the focus is EXCLUSIVELY ONLY on germany. As if germany alone could solve that problem.

Now i don't want to diminish the german successes with that.

It shows the world that it can be done.

@nimnul @beimwort We will need technical developments from germany - and other countries - to actually get it done.

Produce Hydrogen on a large scale with surplus electricity that's availible in the wind regions like North germany or in NL at the Maasvlakte. We will need that for chemical processes. It won't be a solution for your car though - sorry.

Change the electricity generation & heating systems to non carbon based energy sources.

Decarbonize Transport.

@mcfly @nimnul @beimwort in addition to that my guess is that later there will also need to be pressure on the supply side. Sanctions against oil/gas producers or payoffs/golden parachutes. As long as fossil businesses continue producing they will find demand somewhere on the planet.

@mcfly @beimwort und du findest es nicht einen etwas kolonialen Blick den anderen Ländern zu erzählen was sie tun sollen und zu behaupten sie würden nichts tun? Deine Zahlen belegen nicht, dass andere nichts tun. Jedes Land agiert erstmal in dem Land, in dem es Möglichkeiten hat, dem eigenen. Und Klimabewegung ist ja nun auch kein deutsches Phänomen. Alles in allem ziemlich patronizing.
