Years ago I was at a red light at one of those intersections where the rightmost lane closes back up after you're through.
I was driving a little Subaru Brighton econowagon. Besides me pulls up a Grand Prix GTP, V6 turbo, with three guys. Lots of power but their car is heavy and it's a FWD auto. My 2.2l flat 4 is manual AWD.
I smoked them. There was a lot of screeching tire coming from their lane but the car wasn't going anywhere. By the time they connected I was across and far ahead. 😎

no one believes me but I won a similar stop light race in an NA6 Miata against a Porsche Boxster, bro was revving his engine at me too
I pulled off the most perfect launch slipping the clutch to sustain 4500rpm at launch but also put that power to the road too
the Boxster bogged down on launch, I assume he dumped his clutch and started his launch at engine idle speeds
