Fuck me, I *wish* I was anything like #NeilDiamond!

That voice, omg. And THE SONGWRITING. I've been singing his songs for... 45 years now?

These are my three fave ND songs:

@Jyoti Well, YouTube seemed to think you *were* Neil Diamond at one point

And yeah #NeilDiamond is cool as fuck.

@DakkiReads

hahah yeah - that was funny.

I think Neil Diamond was the second person I ever remembered the name of from the radio.

The first, and the first pop song I genuinely loved enough to learn the lyrics of was this:

... even though I didn't actually understand the lyrics till after I'd had a number one record.

@Jyoti As a human being who was alive in the late 70's I also love that song.

I think my mom still has her Neil Diamond vinyl somewhere. I should ask her.

@DakkiReads

It fucks me up *every time* I sing it.

When I look at artists like Lenny, Glen, Joni, KRS-1, Devo, Minor Threat, Sandhya Mukherjee, The Sylvers, Gojira, Jonathan Richman, ATCQ, Kraftwerk, Kirsty MacColl, Hemant Kumar, Andrew Gold, Nina Simone, Najma Akhtar and The Monochrome Set...

... it makes me glad that I was alive and was sentient enough to be able to connect with these mad humans through soundwaves which they made.

@Jyoti I don't know half of those bands, I guess I have homework now.
