U.S. to decide soon on GM's request to deploy cars without steering wheels - Lemmy.world

U.S. to decide soon on GM’s request to deploy cars without steering wheels::U.S. regulators will soon decide on a petition filed by General Motors’ Cruise self-driving technology unit seeking permission to deploy up to 2,500 self-driving vehicles annually without human controls, a top auto safety official said on Wednesday.

No, no, no, no. This is right up there with my state wanting to let 18-year-olds carry concealed deadly weapons in classrooms with no permit. A deal breaker for my continued participation in this society.
Yeah self driving cars are totally the same thing as giving a teenager a gun in a school.
Given their track record, yes.
What a disgusting point of view.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.

On second thought, make that just “You are entitled.”

In 2022 there were 36 deaths caused by self driving cars. There were about 43,000 automotive deaths. And 100 people were killed in school shootings.

The 36 deaths were due to an emergent technology. The 43,000 were human error. And the 100 were a malicious intent to inflict harm.

You’re comparing accidental deaths with actual intentional murder and calling me “entitled”? You are a garbage person and the world would be better off without your “contributions”.

oh great, mods can just delete comments they don’t like without any justification or notification? Great job, mods, at making this place a shittier version of reddit. (this comment will be removed in 3… 2… 1…)
