I've never been in a union. But my dad and his dad were when they worked in a steel factory. The people who sacrificed to create and maintain that union helped my family build a life in this country when we were poor war refugees, and me and my sister were the beneficiaries of that when grandpa Powazek helped us pay for college years later.
