From a climate perspective renewables have to drive fossil generation to zero repeatedly (ie. exceed demand) before it makes sense to add grid storage or substantial BEV / green hydrogen loads onto the grid. Anything else and all we will be doing is shifting carbon emissions around. This is the challenge everywhere.
