Is reddit going to charge the owner of Sync since it tallies API calls? I dont want to screw anyone over for Reddit…

Based on what? User agent? This wouldn’t be a reliable base to know who to charge. It’s all about the given API token. If it’s your own personal one (which it probably would be aber revancing the app), it is restricted anyways to x calls per month (day? IDK). If you reach that limit you simply won’t be able to fetch more data.

Buuuuuut: You would still be using reddit, which we all hopefully agreed not to do anymore, right?

I’m not leaving reddit based on some vague political statement, I left because reddit became unusable for me when Sync shut down. If I can circumnavigate the idiotic changes made by Reddits leadership then I will do so as long as it doesn’t screw anyone over.

You can circumnavigate it.

Just use revanced to patch sync to use a personal API key.

Or compile an open source client like infinity to use your own api key. It’s free and you can continue to use the apps.
