The Fadden By-election 2023 result is hardly a surprise. It was always a safe seat for the Liberal Party — heck, they were represented by the toxic ghoul, Stuart Robert. Given the scandal he created, and the Dutton Effect, it's a miracle the LNP suffered a swing of only 2.1% against them.

It's notable that Legalise Cannabis candidate won a substantial 9.4% of the vote, so well done to Suzette Luyken.

It's also notable that the Greens suffered a swing against them of 3.2%. Anyone know how that happened?

@BinChicken The swing was towards the LNP
"The swing looked like settling around 2%-3% to the LNP. That wiped out what Labor candidate Letitia Del Fabbro had managed to claw from retiring member Stuart Robert in the 2022 election, but sits around the traditional swing against governments in byelections.”

@BinChicken Complete guess on Green’s swing: Scott Morrison protest votes returning to the LNP fold? (I don’t know how one could test such a hypothesis.)
