Asking the #accessibility community about IAAP certifications. Is it something well recognized in the industry?

I really want to dedicate my time to learning more and making changes at my workplace but they will not pay for certifications. They will pay for training. I am wondering if I should invest in getting multiple certificates to shift my career into more focus on web accessibility or if I just should devote time to a degree or other training programs.

@madebypaul I did the CPACC as it was payed with my yearly learning budget. On my own I would definitely not invest the money.

However, preparing for it itself was really valuable and doesn’t cost as much. There is a really nice preparation course by @dequesystems

I wrote a short post about all the stuff I used: https://mic.st/blog/how-to-prepare-for-cpacc-exam-by-iaap/

Certification can make you more visible but more important is to knock on doors in my opinion.

@micst @dequesystems thank you! Your blog post is very helpful. My company has paid for the deque training course but unfortunately won't pay for the certification exam.

My guess is they got burned too many times by people getting loads of certifications and then bouncing.
