Again, DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OFFERS FROM US PRODUCTION COMPANIES. They are trying to use you as strike breakers, and you will end up barred from the industry once they drop you after the strike is over. #WGAStrike #SAGAftraStrike #Solidarity
@jay Question. If a writer started their own production company today, could they negotiate with the unions on a contract, or is that forbidden?
@DanaBlankenhorn The WGA is not currently negotiating independent waivers or agreements with any production companies. Too many abuses of waivers in 2008.
@jay on the other hand maybe string them along and ghost them.
@michaelcoyote @jay
Gonna be a long string. I'd be freaking Theseus here, wasting so much time that by the end of it, the ostensible director would get a whole season out of the exchange itself.
@theogrin @jay is thr producer's name Estragon and the director named Vladimir?

@michaelcoyote @jay

However you swing it, the kitty's a Beckett and change.

@jay

And you can count yourself lucky that they are writers, so you only got dropped from the industry.

@jay I'm watching Hollywood from the other end of the planet and if any bad-faith approaches come at me from producers I will tell them all my stories are about the downfall of capitalism and they can go get stuffed.

@jay

To our international friends: be very careful of your agencies, and always read the papers they provide.

They're not going to hold to the US for their scabbing desires.

@jay "Yes, I'd be happy to once union contracts are settled." might be a fun response.
@jay I'd just be like "sure! I'd love to work with you as soon as the strike is over"
@jay Also remember to NOT going into the movie theaters, as you will become a Strike Breaker too #hollywood #unions #strikes #FairPay

@JerryMouse

@jay

No, this isn't how this works. It would be crossing the line if you were taking an otherwise union job or the workers had asked for a boycott. They have not. There are legitimate strategic reasons for this, most unions do not ask for boycotts during strikes, since this increases pressure on the bosses.

https://mashable.com/article/sag-aftra-wga-strike-what-counts-as-crossing-picket-line

Is going to a movie during the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike crossing the picket line?

Can you still see Barbenheimer?

Mashable
@emerssso @jay That's not how it works I'm my home country, there we do boycott in sympathy, that is why the Danish model is so powerful, strong and good, as every one stands united, even when the times comes for adding more pressure. We sympathy Strikes AND boycotts/votes with our feeds
