I want to go back to the late 90s and tell everyone that Fran Drescher and Dolly Parton are going to be more important in 30 years than you expect

@skinnylatte @SekhmetMedusa Please note that Mx Drescher is (or at least, was as recently as late February this year) also a frothing anti-vaxxer, and was just as willing to have SAG-AFTRA strike over COVID mandates in the industry and publicly blamed COVID on 5G but was also perfectly willing to paint her opponent for the SAG-AFTRA presidency as anti-vax when it was convenient (along with other muck-slinging).

OTOH, if anyone has anything critical about Dolly Parton, I have yet to hear it, and would really like to continue believing that she is a treasure.

SAG-AFTRA's Fran Drescher on Disney Ending Vaccine Mandates: "Way to Go Mickey!"

"To think that every human on the planet can take one vaccine is ludicrous," the actor and union leader tweeted on Saturday.

The Hollywood Reporter
@JDzed Yikes! I had no idea about Fran Drescher! That's a bummer. Dolly gave money to help develop the Moderna vaccine. She's a national treasure.

@SekhmetMedusa Yeah, I was disappointed to learn that about Mx Drescher today after seeing the strike news. =[

Dolly's an international treasure, and not only for her early and critical funding of the Moderna vaccine. Her long-term efforts to increase literacy have had a HUGE impact across the planet, and she's enabled SO MUCH to alleviating poverty and other scourges of her native eastern Tennesee.

And weirdly, Sandollar Productions (which she co-owned), was part of getting Buffy the Vampire Slayer made for (TV and continued).

@SekhmetMedusa Also, she copped death threats for writing and performing the lead song for the 2005 movie Transamerica, because the lead character of said film is a trans woman.

Despite that, and being openly a deeply Christian woman born dirt poor in the 1940s, she is still a firm supporter of LGBTIAQ+ rights, including marriage!

If only that attitude was more common among her compatriots. =[
