It harvests mucho data including our health data.

#Meta has already taken info from a Facebook Messenger chat about seeking #abortion in a hostile state, and turned it over for prosecution.

If you're #trans or might ever need to end a pregnancy PLEASE do not use #Threads.

Boost this. Protect your damn friends.

Facebook turns over mother and daughter’s chat history to police resulting in abortion charges

Police in Nebraska have charged a teenager and her mother with a series of felonies and misdemeanors after Facebook gave up the pair’s private chat history in response to a search warrant. The case is a reminder of how users’ digital data can and will be used to prosecute illegal abortions in a post-Roe America.

@LCWebsXOXO I know it’s for advertising and all, but what I can’t fathom is why people would be so willing to allow an app to harvest all that information just so they can chat on the internet. I must be getting old. Crazy that they done even try to hide it anymore either 🤯
@Danwwilson yeah, that whole progression from "here's our privacy options and here's how you can customize some things for privacy" to "you will give us all your data OR ELSE" is really something. Of course, they were doing a lot of that already and just lying, and I have the class action money to prove it
@Danwwilson I'm so late to the actually protecting one's privacy thing, and there's a lot of genie I just plain can't put into that bottle. And extricating myself has proven to be a multi step, multi week process.
