XDA claim they're a "leading tech publication".

They published an article titled: "Why I like Linux on my Steam Deck but not my desktop"

-> Uses tiny and basically unsupported obscure Linux distribution to make a case against it on the desktop.

-> Also thinks somehow Proton is only on Steam Deck?

Please, if you're going to publish a Linux article, get your writers to do more than 1 minute research into it.

Why I like Linux on my Steam Deck but not my desktop

I never wanted to use Linux on my desktop or laptop, but in the hands of a dedicated developer, it becomes an amazing operating system.

@gamingonlinux I've given using Linux on the desktop for at least fifteen years and I've never heard of HoloISO.

Also the second I read the line about having to go into the registry to clean things up I said "oh, it's one of those guys." One of those "power users" that always has a broken system because they insist they're better than Microsoft at managing the registry.

That's actually expected since the distro itself is quite new. It was created to allow SteamOS 3.0 "Holo"* to be installed outside Steam Deck, so it can't be older than the machine.

*Contrary to previous versions, you can't install 3.0 on any machine. You can still download "image", but it's only usable on Deck and to my knowledge it's also stripped from every driver it doesn't need (even HoloISO doesn't support Nvidia cards).
